Today Apple has announced that it has expanded its availability of iBooks Textbooks and the iTunes U course manager to over 50 countries. iBooks Textbooks are now available in 51 countries, while the course manager for iTunes U is now available in 70 countries. The new countries include, Brazil, Italy, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, and many more.
Eddy Cue, Apple's Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, said:
“The incredible content and tools available for iPad provide teachers with new ways to customize learning unlike ever before. We can’t wait to see how teachers in even more countries will create their new lesson plans with interactive textbooks, apps and rich digital content.”
iBooks Textbooks were originally announced at Apple's education event in January 2012, as a push to get iPads into the education market.
